MURFREESBORO — Out of the 42 games the Farragut High School baseball team had played this season coming into Wednesday’s second round of the Class AAA state tournament, only two teams had scored more than five runs against the Admirals.
Their pitching rotation is chock full of Division I arms, after all, so they don’t find themselves in a hole much.
But heading into the bottom of the fourth inning against Summit on Wednesday, the Admirals trailed 7-2 and seemed destined to play an elimination game that night.
Then the unlikeliest of heroes surfaced.
