Along with a bat, Walker Trusley carried a powerful motivation with him to the batter’s box in the eighth inning Wednesday night.
Powell High’s starting pitcher was chastened by the four runs he had surrendered against rival Halls in the District 3-AAA championship game. The Red Devils had erased an early deficit and chased Trusley from the mound to a new post at third base after seven innings.
“I was frustrated with myself,” he said. “I felt like all four runs I gave up were on me through hit batters and walks. So I thought it was my place to step up.”
