Jones said via text message that is was just the right time for him.
The Hawks made seven playoff appearances in 10 seasons under Jones’ tutelage and won 56 games — including their first game of their maiden season in 2009 before finishing 1-9. However, HVA rebounded in 2010 with a 7-4 mark and made the 6A playoffs.
Jones’ most successful season came in 2016, when HVA went 9-4 and reached the 6A state quarterfinals.
